Alpinism

The Hard way

Alpinism is a higher calling. It is about using all the skills in dealing with rock, ice and snow to get up on bigger, harder lines in the mountains. The rewards are great, and so is the risk. All the tricks are used, with trip preparation, partners and conditions being crucial. Skills are pushed further as rock becomes chossy and difficult to protect, the ice gets thinner and delaminates, and snow conditions can make or break the day. Pitons are placed, the terrain might be used for belays, transitions from rock to ice to snow are frequent, and we climb with heavier packs. The Rockies offer an excellent terrain to get these skills dialed and climb some great alpine lines. Rise early and climb hard.

“It’s a round trip. getting to the summit is optional, getting down is mandatory.”
