About ARISE

acmg certified mountain guiding services

Arise Mountain Guiding was established in 2019 in Canmore, Alberta. We offer fully customizable rock, ice, alpine and mountaineering guiding adventures personalized to the individual. Our mission is to help you achieve your climbing objectives and teach you skills along the way so that you have unforgettable experiences in the mountains that we all love.

  • Canmore is nestled in the heart of the Bow Valley with surrounding mountains in abundance, from Kananaskis Provincial Park, the Ghost Wilderness Area, Banff National Park & Lake Louise, and the Icefields Parkway all the way up to Jasper National Park and beyond.

Alberta’s mountains are our “bread and butter”, and climbing opportunities exists no matter the season - whether you pack your climbing shoes and chalk bag, or your ice axes and crampons, we can take you to new heights.

  • The Canadian Rockies cross the provincial border, and we follow them into rugged terrain. You’ll find us ice climbing in Field, BC and towards Golden, as well as south down Hwy 93 into Storm Creek and the Stanley Headwall, and into the mythical Icefall Brooks.

Big rock, alpine, and mountaineering objectives abound in the Bugaboos Provincial Park just past Radium, Rogers Pass and the Asulkan Valley, and in Yoho National Park. We love to explore these areas and look forward to taking you with us.

  • Quebec is a very unique place to climb ice because of the province’s distinct “yellow” ice formations. We guide ice climbs in Quebec periodically through the winter and would love to share these special climbs with you.

Hi There,
my name is Sebastian, and I will be your guide.

Owner, Head Guide
ACMG certified

My name is Sebastian Taborszky, and I live, work, and play in the Canadian Rockies. Born in Romania, I moved to Canada (Quebec) when I was 18 and began climbing in 1994. After serving many years with the Canadian Coast Guard, my love for the mountains spoke louder than the sea. I traded in ocean waves for glaciers and ice, and moved to Canmore to pursue my ACMG certifications. I started guiding and never looked back.

The Rockies are my home range of many jagged peaks, which are an excellent training ground for climbers. They say those who climb here year-round will do well anywhere else. We have the best ice climbing in the world, peaks and glaciers as far as you can see, and unlimited limestone for rock climbing. The Bugaboos are a short throw away, with splitter granite cracks and towers shooting up from glaciers. If you are here to climb, learn, or simply be among these mountains, we’ll make a great team.

My personal focus is on helping guests to climb beautiful, inspiring lines, while learning as much as they can to increase their skill level. Meeting past guests in the mountains, now climbing on their own and pursuing independent adventures, is very rewarding. I truly hope I can pass on some of the flame, and look forward to meeting you.

hello! Bonjour! ¡Hola! salut!

I am happy to serve you in English, French, Spanish and Romanian.

“Mountain climbing is extended periods of intense boredom, interrupted by occasional moments of sheer terror.”

Unknown, but wise climber. My personal favourite quote…
